Lives & works in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
When my daughter, Sydney, was three years old, she announced that she was an artist. My experience was in business, but in order to help support her goals, I started exploring art with her. In her early teens, she was too young to take classes involving a torch without a parent present, so I started working in metal and glass as well. She is now a student at Carnegie Mellon University, working on her degree in Visual Arts and Video Game Design. Sydney's passion for art ignited a flame of creativity in me. But I prefer to handle glass in its solid state, so I work in the warm shop rather than right in the fire of the flame or hot shops. An avid traveler, by assembling glass pieces or abstracting images, I attempt to evoke a feeling or sensation from an experience far removed from my everyday life.
